PETA 'Beating a Dead Horse' with Politically Correct Animal Sayings

You can no longer say"bring home the bacon"or"be the guinea pig"根据动物权利组织的说法,因为它轻视动物。

The animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is insisting that people change their language in an effort to"remove speciesism"from daily conversation.

PETA wants people to stop using common sayings that include what the activist group calls"anti-animal language."These types of sayings would be"take the bull by the horns"和“kill two birds with one stone."PETA wants people to instead change those sayings to something like"把花带到荆棘旁和“用烤饼喂两只鸟。”"

"Just as it became unacceptable to use racist, homophobic,或能干的语言,phrases that trivialize cruelty to animals will vanish as more people begin to appreciate animals for who they are and start ‘bringing home the bagels' instead of the bacon,"PETA在Twitter上的一份声明中说。

The new saying from PETA implies that horses should be overfed which is a recipe for disaster.PETA may not be aware but if you overfeed a horse it can cause such problems asfounderandcolic,这可能是对马的死刑。“对不起”beating a dead horse"to those who already know that.

The list of various sayings PETA wants to change can be read in the following Tweet:

Following the announcement PETA was blasted by Twitter users. Here are a sampling of responses to the suggested changes to people's colloquialisms:

对于喜剧演员来说,这个声明也并非没有引起注意,斯蒂芬·科尔伯特用他自己的修正来讽刺推荐的词组。科尔伯特提出的一个有趣的变化是改变there's more than one way to skin a cat"而是“剥猫皮有三种方法,but that's not really ‘first date' conversation.""

Glad that I don't follow Twitter.Of course I miss a lot of presidential inside information, too.Too much work to do to waste time.

We are in a time when problems need to be addressed,

I'm afraid that this is another example how tweets are too short to get the job of thoughtful communication done.

We must resist or be overtaken in the competition for public opinion. Push back today!
